The Common Thread will begin at 7pm in Waveland Hall at Plymouth for our February gathering. This month we will begin with Cathy Lindsey giving her astrological report for the month, followed by a few short announcements. (We ask that you do keep these brief, please.)

We are not beginning with our usual meditation, as our speaker, James Phillips, will provide a meditation for us during his presentation. The presentation is:

Living in Truth

Do you often feel unhappy and focus too easily on what’s wrong in your life? Do you spend too much time thinking about your job, future, money, or life partner? Have you taken on so many different personas that you’ve created a life full of stress and chaos?

Once again, we will meet at 7pm in Waveland Hall at Plymouth on Thursday, December 1st. We will begin with a short meditation, a few short announcements of other events happening in Des Moines (please remember to keep these short so as not to eat up our speaker's time). Then Cathy Lindsey will provide us with the astrological outlook for the month.

With so many of our friends and relatives leaving us to return Home, our topic may be just what we need to hear. This month we are excited to have Barbara Gabriel as our speaker. Barbara's presentation will be "Life between Lives". What happens to us when we are between lives on earth? How and why do we chose to come back? Who helps us chose our lessons, and our life plan? The Common Thread Group will meet in Waveland Hall at Plymouth next Thursday at 7pm. As usual we will begin our session with a short meditation, a few announcements, and Cathy Lindsey's astrological report. (You'll want to hear about all the stuff going in our solar system that is affecting us! )

Our speaker for August had to cancel at the last minute, so Steve Stone (also known as Stevie) has volunteered to facilitate a discussion on “Disclosure” and related current events. Disclosure has come to be defined as the governments of the world admitting that they have been in communication with ETs for over sixty years. Recently there have been many channelings and other reports about a very strong ET presence around Gaia leading up to first contact and assistance we can receive from them leading up to ascension. Steve’s attention was first drawn to this area five years ago after reviewing Dr. Steven Greer’s work.

“This is really ‘out there’ for a lot of people,” Steve says. “But there is so very much information on the internet, channeling and otherwise that seems to ring very true to a lot of people. This is cutting edge with the information progressing daily and in a tone that is: soon-soon-soon.” He intends to have pass-outs highlighting many of the best web sites and a summary of key issues. Bring your skepticism as well as an open mind. This will be interesting.

July 7th Common Thread Meeting

Our meeting will be held in Waveland Hall at Plymouth Church. We will begin at 7pm with a short meditation, followed by a few short announcements, and Cathy Lindsey's monthly astrological update.

The July speaker will be Roma Schaefer. Roma will be sharing information about a beautiful, different and powerful healing modality called reconnective Healing & The Reconnection. While most of us are familiar with Reiki, Healing Touch, and similar “energy” healing modalities, you may not be aware that Reconnective Healing is more than “energy” healing. It encompasses these energies plus more passing on “light & information” as well. Roma will explain the origin of Reconnective Healing, what scientists are saying about it, her own experience, and what you can expect when experiencing it. At the end of the presentation, you will be given an opportunity to “feel the frequencies” if you choose.

For over 30 years Roma has been a Registered Nurse. During this time, she has worked with various complementary healing modalities as a Healing Touch Practitioner, Reiki Master, EFT Therapist, and Past Life Regression Therapist. She is also a TSFL (Take Shape For Life) Health Coach. After attending a
presentation on Reconnective Healing in the spring of 2010, she felt drawn to this work and scheduled to attend the first possible seminar with Dr. Eric Pearl (founder of Reconnective Healing). The title of her presentation is

Shamanic Journeying: Walking Between Worlds

The shamanic journey is a practice common to all indigenous societies throughout history, dating back for thousands of years. The oldest burial site for a shaman, who happened to be a woman, was dated to 60,000 years ago. The fact that it has survived for thousands of years speaks to the potency of the work. By listening to a drumbeat or other rhythmic percussion, the shamanic journeyer enters "non-ordinary reality" - an altered state of consciousness beyond time and space - to access spiritual guidance and healing, assist others and the planet and to reconnect with the cycles and rhythms of nature. Join me to learn more about shamanic journeying and to experience a short journey into non ordinary reality.

Carole has been studying Shamanic Journeying and Healing for the past 17 years. Recently, she has been studying with Sandra Ingerman in the Two Year Teacher Training in Santa Fe, NM. The Common Thread Group will meet at 7pm in Waveland Hall at Plymouth Church. As usual, we will begin with a short meditation followed by a few short announcements (Please keep your announcements short so we don't eat into our speakers time. You are more than welcome to put information on the table by the door for people to pick up if interested.)

Cathy Lindsey will give us the astrological report with how the energies from the planets are affecting us currently.

This month our own Dr. Jim Bell will be our presenter. Jim will be talking on HeartMath, based mainly on the book, "The HeartMath Solution," by Doc Childre and Howard Martin. It describes a practical method of getting into a positive frame of mind, which, as he'll explain, is amazingly beneficial.

Jim is a small town lad growing up--Tipton, IA. He graduated from med school (Iowa) 1960, and went into General Practice, then Family Practice in Des Moines starting in 1963, and has been here ever since.

He retired from traditional medicine in 2000 and is now doing patient counseling (depression, anxiety, family and marital discord, obsessive/compulsive , and other similar disorders), and using Spirituality (or Energy Medicine) as basis for counseling.

We will begin the evening with a short meditation, as usual, followed by a few short announcements. Then Cathy Lindsey and I will run through some of the energies associated with Astrology that could help prepare you for what will be happening this month.

I'm excited to announce that our speaker this month is

Geral Blanchard.

Geral had been a traditional psychotherapist working in the field of sexual abuse and interpersonal violence for 37 years when he made a dramatic professional transition. Three years ago he moved away from the mechanical counseling techniques learned through conventional training in psychology and began implementing more intuitive approaches that he had observed in shamanic healings throughout Africa, South America, Canada, and elsewhere. Blending indigenous healing methods with contemporary counseling practices, Geral now brings ancient wisdom and more spiritual care to his patients.

Geral is the author of five books, including the forthcoming book on this subject, Ancient Ways. He has written articles on shamanic-psychotherapy for the British magazine, Sacred Hoop, and the American magazine, Sacred Fire.

His Common Thread presentation will tell the story of his career shift which began by "throwing the bones" in a shaman's hut in Swaziland. Geral will describe his evolution from initial reluctance to a full embrace of indigenous ways.

Our February meeting will once again meet in Waveland Hall at Plymouth Church at 7pm. (If you are thinking of joining us for the first time, you'll see details of our location and who we are in the right column.)

We will have free tickets available to the Iowa Holistic Expo which will be March 5th & 6th this year at the Marriott Hotel, downtown Des Moines. Free parking is available across the street in the city ramp for both Saturday and Sunday. Go to http://www.edgelife.net/ and click on Iowa for details.

We will begin with a short meditation, a few short announcements, and Cathy Lindsey's Monthly Astrological Report. (You can read the previous reports by clicking on Cathy's name to the right side of your screen.) Our speaker this month will be Kim O'Hara.

Kim O’Hara will be speaking on the topic of PSYCH-K.

Our lives are based on our perceptions of the world and those perceptions are based on our beliefs. By changing those limiting beliefs that are holding us back, we can energetically change the quality of the experiences we attract into our lives, and thus, change the very fabric of our lives! PSYCH-K is an excellent tool to help you accomplish this as it changes beliefs where they reside – in the subconscious mind!

Kim will present a brief overview of the science behind PSYCH-K, including some information about the breakthroughs of cellular biologist, Bruce Lipton, who wrote Biology of Belief, and is a strong supporter of PSYCH-K. She will then share some proven techniques that you can use at home to change subconscious mind beliefs by enhancing whole brain function and reducing stress naturally. After the main presentation and time for questions, Kim will ask those interested to join in a group balancing of a statement or two chosen by the group. It should be fun to feel the energy shift for so many people around the chosen topics. Popular group balancing statements include “The Universe is safe,” “I trust myself,” and “I am the peace I seek.”

Kim’s Bio: For 20 years, Kim was an attorney and successful insurance executive. In 1997, she left the business world to become an energy healer. In 2004, she moved to Utah and started a more conventional coaching business. While her clients were happy with her services, she was unhappy with her inability to consistently effect meaningful change for them. As we know, insights don’t heal you, and change can be difficult using traditional talk methods. Last fall, Kim discovered PSYCH-K and the desire to help people in a meaningful way was reborn, with the confidence that comes from having the right tools to do the job! January 6th - Common Thread Meeting

Our January 6th meeting will be held in Waveland Hall of Plymouth, starting at 7pm, as usual with a short meditation. This will be followed by brief announcements and Cathy Lindsey's Astrological report for January.

Due to popular demand, our January meeting will be a group discussion meeting rather than a planned speaker. Our moderator will be our own Scott Houston. You may remember that he was our speaker last July on the topic of "The Zen Teachings of Jesus". As is the way of Zen, Scott chooses not to select a topic for discussion, but is open to any and all that the group wishes to bring up. So, what have you read or heard lately that is exciting, interesting, or maybe even scary? Have you gotten anything conflicting that you would like to dig into deeper? What have you wanted to learn more about, but hasn't come forward? We will be free-form, so our time together should be great, great fun.

December 2nd - Common Thread Group

The reason we are not starting with our usual meditation is because are speaker this month is Charles Day whose topic is "Introduction to Meditation and Buddhism". Charles will lead us through one of his meditations during his presentation.

Brief Biography

Charlie graduated from Roosevelt High School and received his BA in Journalism and Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa. He worked mostly in California but also in California, India, and Thailand as a psychologist, psychotherapist, consultant, and teacher before retiring in 1997.

He’s trained and supervised psychologists, counselors, and psychiatrists, and developed and directed mental health programs for Head Start children, juvenile delinquents, drug addicts, abused children and their families, and the Hispanic community.

After working eight years in Asia, he returned to Des Moines in 1994 to work for the Des Moines Child and Adolescent Guidance Center until retiring.

Charlie has studied meditation practices and spiritual traditions for over 40 years and now devotes much of time teaching and writing about meditation and Buddhist philosophy.

He’s the founder and guiding teacher of the Des Moines Meditation and Mindfulness Group, leads weekly meditation groups and occasional retreats in Des Moines and at the Iowa State prison for women in Mitchellville, and administers the Group’s website www.DesMoinesMeditation.org, on which many of his articles appear. He especially enjoys guiding individuals in their meditation and spiritual practices.

November 4th - Common Thread Group

The NUMEROLOGIST

Our monthly Common Thread gathering will take place on Thursday, September 2nd, and we will meet in Waveland Hall at Plymouth Congregational Church starting at 7pm. Suzanne Spooner has lived in central Iowa her whole life. In the fall of 2009 The Art of Universal Knowing manifested. TAUK is a teachable gift of communication to the other side of the veil. Through the system of TAUK Suzanne and students of TAUK make connections to loved ones who have passed, to guides, to angels and masters.

July 1st - Common Thread Meeting

The Common Thread meeting will begin at 7pm in Waveland Hall on Thursday, July 1st. We will, as usual begin with a meditation followed by a few announcements and Cathy Lindsey's monthly astrological report.

Our speaker this month will be Scott Houston. He is an active member of Common Thread and Tuesdays’ meetings of The Gathering, Scott is a spiritual counselor and he makes great use of the “FORWARD” button for spiritual email and websites.

Seriously though… Scott has extensively studied 2012 and many other related scientific and spiritual issues. Obviously, he has been searching the spiritual path his whole life. From dabbling in Satanism as an adolescent to an ordained minister to evangelical cultism, he certainly has a broad history. We usually edit a speaker’s introduction to make it more marketable or sometimes less wordy, but today we feel Scott’s words directly say so very much more about him and how he will enlighten us (pun intended). Scott said:

I'd like to share various ideas from a book I am writing called "Zen Behind The Words Of Jesus" that goes beneath the surface and traditional interpretations of Jesus' words to reveal the higher consciousness concepts that He and ALL other avatars have always taught . It's my hope that by showing this "COMMON THREAD" of all religions it will help promote oneness and help those in attendance share/bond with those of other belief systems - especially Christianity. This may also help heal those offended by our culture’s dominant religion by pointing out some beliefs are merely ego identities and have not yet seated in spirit. I will also share some synchronistic aspects of my own journey. I will resist the temptation to teach Zen which will be hard cause it is SO beautiful "No where to get to and no one to go there" the PERFECTION of life. I'm very humbled speaking these truths when even a great Zen master on his death bed said "In my life I have uttered many vain babblings trying to express that which is inexpressible." I hope, in closing, to awaken people to the perfection of life and therefore themselves, followed by miracles and pulling a rabbit out of my hat or your money back. LOL

June 3rd - Common Thread Group

Our speaker will be our own Duon Almitra. The title of her presentation is “The Sunshine Buffet – Food for Thought”.

As a teaser, she suggests that we bring a “full spectrum appetite”. She will speak on many related topics of life style, science, and folk lore. One topic will be HRM Sungazing. Duon’s goal for the evening is that we will leave loosening our belts and expanding our minds with more questions than we thought we could think. She suggests we wear attire that is….. “colorful”. Duon has been a speaker for Common Thread a number of times over the years and has a great following as a Shiatsu practitioner here in Des Moines.

May 6th - Common Thread Group Meeting

This month we are back in Waveland Hall and we will be there until further notice! YEAH!

As usual we will begin at 7pm with a short meditation, followed by brief announcements, and our May Astrological report from Cathy Lindsay.

Our speaker on May 6th will be Rich Joens, a licensed social worker and part owner of Counseling Associates of Central Iowa.

Rich will be talking about a therapy technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) This is an eye movement therapy that involves the right brain/left brain component which has helped many patients process traumatic information that seems to get stuck in the right brain. Because so much recent spiritual literature discusses the connection of creativity, meditation and channeling with right brain activity, we thought that inviting Rich to speak with us would be timely.

Rich also plans to talk about Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy that is used in conjunction with EMDR. IFS uses the concept that we are all multiple personalities and each contain our own internal therapist. He is quite certain our members will find this very interesting. If time allows, Rich will also do an EMDR demonstration with an audience volunteer.

Rich came to Des Moines in 1983 working for Polk County Victim Services, most of that time as a violent crime counselor/advocate. With a Masters of Social Work degree and license, he worked for Broadlawns Medical Center as a clinical social worker, followed by full time private practice in 1997. Rich is a certified practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and a promoter of Dick Schwartz's Internal Family System therapy. Having been openly gay since beginning his career, he receives many referrals regarding gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender issues. Because of his work with PCVS, he also receives many trauma survivor referrals.

April 8, 2010- Common Thread Group

We always meet on the first Thursday of the month which would be April 1st, however; this year the first Thursday is April 1st and it's Maundy Thursday for the church. This means that we are unable to meet there, but we were able to reschedule to the following Thursday, April 8th. I hope this doesn't create too much of a problem for all of you!

Our April 8th meeting will be in the Greenwood Room, and will begin at 7pm with our meditation. As usual, we will follow with brief announcements and Cathy Lindsay's monthly astrological report.

We are honored and excited to have Jane Kearney from Mankato, Minnesota as our speaker this month.

Jane has taken courses with Japan's Dr. Masaru Emoto and his staff in 2005 and has become a Certified Hado Instructor.

She will show us a power point presentation to demonstrate Emoto's work with water crystals proving that water is a message carrier and that our thoughts, words, music, etc. have a clear and definite effect an ourselves, others and everything around us. With positive or negative "hado" we greatly influence the world around us.

February 4th - Common Thread

The Common Thread Group will be meeting in Waveland Hall at 7pm beginning with a meditation.

Since weather prevented us from meeting in January, our topic for the February 4th Common Thread meeting will be “Intention”, presented by our own Fraya Parker. “Intention” has become one of the key buzzwords in today’s spiritual and self-help communities. Abraham-Hicks, Wayne Dyer, Carlos Castaneda, and even in every meeting of Common Thread, “intention” is being defined, analyzed, and explained.

Now we have hard scientific evidence to prove what our spiritual teachers have been telling us. Our “beliefs” are supported by facts and can actually be proven! Over the past thirty years, in laboratories all over the world, pioneering scientists in physics have been conducting careful experiments investigating human intention. What they have found has literally rocked the scientific community and exploded some of the most basic tenets that our “modern science” has been based on.

From this information, we can now use the “Science of Directed Intent” in incredibly powerful new ways. With just a little “tweaking,” our old ways of co-creating our world by using intentions and affirmations can be dynamically intensified. And when we come together using this simple, new intention process, we can create the kind of world that we have previously only dreamed of.

Fraya intends (pun intended…ha, ha….that’s intended, too) to present the major ideas resulting from these scientific investigations into intention in very broad strokes and in everyday language. Then, we will end the presentation by joining together vibrationally, amplifying our individual potential by creating group consciousness, and then send a group intention for the betterment of Des Moines out to the universe so powerfully that it cannot help but manifest!

Fraya got started meditating in the 70's because of scientific research into what happens in the brain during Transcendental Meditation. She worked for the TM movement for a year, followed by a three-month course in Europe to learn to be a teacher of TM. About a year ago she was introduced to the “Intenders”, and since then has been working to get more people involved with Intenders here in Des Moines.

New Vortexes

Using Dreams and Lucid Dreams to Access Our Greatest Potential

Since recorded history, dreams have informed, guided and mystified mankind. With dream accounts of precognition, telepathy, spiritual encounters and interactions with the deceased, dreams have naturally suggested a more complex view of reality. 1. Old library downtown Des Moines, (between the river and the building?) There is a new retaining wall that has been built on the East Side of the library, south of the YMCA. It jets out in a semi circle and this is where the center is. If you turn toward the library you will see a green door. If you turn toward the river the Simon Estes Amphitheater will be directly across from you.

2. Oak Grove by Saylorville on NW Polk City Drive, north of the visitors center- Oak Grove picnic area, shelter number 2, go to the back of the shelter. You may feel the energy as you drive into the park. Beware as you go back to the Vortex as the fringes are covered with Poison Ivy. I have not seen any in the lawn area. If you are coming from Des Moines you can take 35 north to First Ave Ankeny exit, turn left and take First Ave west to NW Polk City Drive, turn right and look for the Oak grove sign. You will think you are driving into a residential area, just keep going.

3. Saylorville Visitors Center Check out the video above, it has actually grown to where you can feel it in the parking area. It is behind the building, look for the silver propane tank and look down; poison ivy and ferns surround the center. When you go behind the visitor’s center take the ramp and walk toward the silver propane tank. When you are at the end of the ramp look to the left, this is where you will see two trees that have fallen in between 3 other trees making an X.
Open your hearts to the experience, you may or may not feel anything and that is OK. You will still benefit from the energies.

I remember going to Sedona years ago and not feeling anything at the Vortexes. It takes practice and patience and a willingness to tune in.
Ask yourself this question, if I felt something I wonder what that would feel like? I promise it will eventually come.

Summer Solstice Event - June 21st at 5:30am
Cathy Lindsey told us the other night about the energy of this summer solstice. Cathy said, "This Summer Solstice is a very important one as the Solstice is always an opening to the Universe and this year with the transits that are listed below it will be a very powerful time to manifest and meditate! It will be a powerful time to connect and pray/manifest/mediate on the Earth/humanity/ascension and love." Then, while brainstorming with friends, wanted to know at which point in the world sunrise coincides with the most northerly latitude of the sun. They discovered after much computer calculation that that point, in all of the world, was in central Iowa! (Roughly just south of the Newton area)

We feel that Des Moines is close enough and we want to celebrate this special event! So here is the plan:
What: Summer Solstice Meditation and Celebration
When: Sunday, June 21st, 2009, 5:30am (Yes, in the morning!) ;o)
Where: SW Corner of Grey's Lake

Water Blessing Solstice Event- June 21st at 9am
The Water Blessing Solstice Event is scheduled for June 21st, 9am, Waterworks Park. Enter into the park off George Flagg Dr. We will gather just left of the entrance at the river. Dress warm enough. Bring an open heart filled with gratitude, something to sit on, and an indigenous instrument if you have one. During our last few meetings, I have asked for suggestions for this month’s Common Thread Open Forum. A number of you came to me and I received a number of emails encouraging more talks on 2012. Since we have had a lot of discussion on this topic over the past year, yet the topic still is in our “top of mind awareness”, perhaps we should take another perspective on the subject.

We have been dealing with tons of DOOM & GLOOM from hundreds of directions. As we know, when we think about DOOM & GLOOM we get more DOOM & GLOOM! Let’s talk about the LOVE & LIGHT that is appearing now in 2009 as well as what we can project into 2012!

Let’s share the positive experiences that we see happening to others and ourselves and get into a discussion about what we would like to see in our future.

February Full Moon: is in Leo. IT is also an Eclipse. The Eclipse is at 21 degrees Leo and it happens at 10:49 am. Full Moons are a time to release. Chiron and Neptune are also conjunct this Eclipse/Full Moon.

Leo Full Moon: Leo gets us back into the heart of the action. It is a time to get with friends and gather and let our light shine. A time to express ourselves and appreciate one another. Celebrate, ritualize, dramatize, and keep close to the truth. Keep true to the heart! Be playful.

This full moon Eclipse is a powerful one. Chiron and Neptune are conjunct it. With Chiron (the wounded healer) blending with it, there will be an emphasis on your wound in your own chart and the wound of the collective. With it being in Leo, this very much would/could have to do with the wound of the “leaders” of the world. Individually: This is a time for recognition. What do you want to be recognized for? Will you move on or stay disillusioned in the wounds of the past? Something will be cut loose. Then with Neptune…..the ability to use high spirituality on a leadership level. Within your self or the world. Don’t get pulled into the delusions or fogginess of things.

This eclipse will be the testing point for the new ideas sparked on the Solar Eclipse.

Aquarian thoughts must survive the emotional waters of the eclipse Full Moon. We my want to save the world, but we must save ourselves first. Many times the Aquarian rebels re working to move things forward which are very threatening to the status quo.

Many may find themselves confused as the past no longer works like it did, and there is no clear path ahead. February New Moon: On February 24th, is in Pisces at 6 degrees, at 7:35 pm. New Moons are a time of manifestation, a time to listen to your higher self. This New Moon being in Pisces makes for a heightened intuition. Meditate, create (manifest) your future. Saturn – is retrograde in Virgo. Everyone is feeling this especially the Virgo’s and Capricorn’s. Internalizing your inner structure, your inner “outline” of what you think your life should/could be. Chiron is now conjunct Neptune in Aquarius giving us the electrical energy to “heal” the Chiron wound that we each have and the world wound, by thinking outside the box on a humanitarian spiritual level.Pluto – is in Capricorn as it will be for the next several years. Happy Holidays Everyone!
I know how difficult it is to be happy right now with the economy where it is and the terrible news we receive from broadcasts and print, but it is for our best and highest good to stay grounded, centered in the moment, and ever diligent about our positive thinking for the future! (The law of attraction is really at work now!) It is always good to show and feel the gratitude for what we do have..... family, friends, health, etc.!

This month's meeting will be an "Open Discussion" again. Or as Steve says, "A free for all!" Our topic or topics will be on "Past Lives and Karma", but not necessarily in that order, together or exclusively. Anyone want to volunteer for a past life regression in front of the group?

This next Thursday is scheduled for an "Open Forum" discussion. As it turns out, it is going to be another busy evening.

Right after our announcements, Corrine Switzer will finish up her talk about her new book, "The Reality of the Illusion" and her self-healing system, “The Science of Vibrational Medicine” which she wasn't able to finish in our August meeting.

Then we have a special guest, Lynda Austin, who is visiting from the twin cities. Lynda is an Internationally renowned channel who has made it her life's mission to create accessible wisdom. Lynda has been in dialogue with her source, Essence, for over 20 years and now you can listen in too! She will briefly provide us with a special group reading. Beyond "The Secret": problems, solutions, and advanced uses of the Law of Attraction.

The movie "The Secret" has been criticized as being too materialistic. Steve Stone, our presenter this month agrees with that opinion and wishes to dive into that aspect of the topic. "We are finding that the Law of Attraction isn't as easy to apply as we have been led to think", Steve says. "So I would like to lead a discussion, not just give a lecture, about when the L of A works, when it doesn't, and why."

Steve feels that success in the Law of Attraction begins with our beliefs and our ability to change them. Additionally, there is much more to consider rather than just accumulating money, health, or a good relationship. Soul purpose, working in groups, and educating children are other great topics of conversation if we have time.

Steve says he has had a strong draw to the study of the Law of Attraction from the first time he learned of the concept, then called "manifestation". This month we will again start with the meditation at 7pm sharp in the Greenwood Room. It will be a 15 minute meditation (sitting, not standing) in which we will send, as a group, our powerful energy to those in need. If you choose not to be a part of the meditation, please join us at 7:15pm. If you arrive after we have begun the meditation, please quietly join us or remain outside until we have finished.

In many ways our world seems to be turning upside down right now.... with extreme weather conditions, flooding, the price of gas, and the negative news in which we are inundated on a daily basis. It's hard to stay positive and centered!!!! This beautiful group of people brings positive love and light energy to wipe away this illusion we call life! What amazing souls you all are!

It has been suggested that we utilize our wonderfully focused, powerful energy to help the world even more than we currently do at the end of our meetings. We have truly helped others who have been the focus of our healing energies!

So, here's what we would like to do.........

From conversations I've had with many of you, I know angels have played huge rolls in some of your lives, and many of you are extremely psychically gifted. We'd love to hear your stories! In order for everyone to share, please keep your stories short and succinct. It should be a fun and interesting evening getting to know each other better. I, also, find that hearing other people talk about their experiences, helps me relate better to my own, building confidence and ridding doubt!

Monday Night Movie - June 16th

We have had a change of plans for our movie this Monday night. We will still meet at 7pm in Waveland Hall, but our movie will now be from The International Conference on Science and Conciousness which takes place in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The movie is "Steven Greer - Cosmic Awareness & Cosmic Cultures: Higher States of Consciousness & Extraterrestrial Relations"

Steven Greer was an emergency room physician who is now working full time on the "Disclosure Project", which is uncovering the information that the "higher powers that be in the world" have kept secret concerning extraterrestrial life.

This month we have a wonderful healer, Barbara Kerns, as our speaker!

Barbara will talk to us about SRT. According to Robert Detzler, "SRT is a meticulous process of researching the subconscious and soul records to discover and release (clear) hidden blocks to health, happiness and spiritual growth." This process was developed (he says "given to") by Mr Detzler from the universe itself. SRT clears away present life negativity as well as that remaining from past lives. SRT raises the soul's level of consciousness and opens doors to our full potential, however, we must still exercise our free will. We must take the responsibility of walking through those doors. In practice, there are two positive results of SRT. First the soul always benefits even if not consciously recognized; second, most people notice improvements in their daily life. Sometimes these improvements are immediate and dramatic; often they are subtle and may take days, weeks, months & sometimes years to manifest. Barbara has worked with this system for 17 years and is still amazed at the results.

Barbara Kerns has been a student of metaphysics since her early teens. She is a graduate of the Science of Mind Course, is a Reiki Master/Teacher, a Spiritual Response Therapy Counselor/Teacher and is certified to teach Spiritual Restructuring. Barbara was introduced to Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT) in 1988 at a First Iowa Dowser's meeting. A new book "Your Mind net" by Robert Detzler was the subject of discussion that day. May 1st Common Thread Meeting - "Dealing with (the monster) 'EGO'"

Our May 1st meeting will once again be an open forum discussion, and our topic will be “Dealing with Ego”. How do we overcome it in ourselves? How do we deal with it in others?

Through our tribal conditioning we have learned to listen to our egos and not to our hearts, allowing Ego to control us in business, play, and even in relationships. Let’s look at examples, and then examine the ways to permanently transform “our shadow sides” and allow our hearts to do our thinking.

Thursday, March 6th, Common Thread Meeting

It's a good thing time is going faster, because with this cold I need the wonderful warmth of our group to warm my chilly bones again soon!!!! Some times, as a human, it is just hard to stay in the light and this is one of them!!!! Brrrrrr.........

Our next meeting will be an "Open Forum" again, and we will continue our conversation about the coming of the "Year 2012". I encourage you to bring information that rings true to you that you have been reading on this subject and/or channeling that you have done.

You might, also notice, that I have switched our March movie night (over on the right) to "2012 The Odyesey". So in March we will finish up this topic and move on to our next.

More exciting news!!!!!
Plymouth Congregational Church has agreed to let us have the Waveland Room the third Monday of every month!!!!

So this means, that in addition to our regular Common Thread Meetings on the first Thursday of the month in the Greenwood Room, we will now have The Common Thread Monday Night at the Movies in the Waveland Room on the third Monday of the month. Our first Movie Night will be February 18th from 7pm-9pm, and our first movie will be "Orbs: The Veil is Lifting".

In graditude to the church, who has been wonderful allowing us to meet there at no charge, we will have a "Graditude Basket" by the door. Please know, that this is not requested by the church or required by the Common Thread Group. This is simply available for those of you who would like to show their appreciation and it will be given entirely to the church.

Next Month's meeting will be held on February 7th and Judith Hickman will be our speaker. The topic will be... VOYAGE TO YOUR INNER WISDOM Judith Hitchman, MSW, DD, will provide a short history of tarot and explain the major and minor arcana (lesson) cards. Participants will have the opportunity to learn to use their own inner wisdom to read the symbols on a deck, view several spreads, and learn how to use tarot in your daily life. And there will be time for questions.

Judith Hitchman, M.S.W., holds the vision of Comfort Your Soul.
