 For our November 7th gathering, our own beautiful, Marsha Hines was so wonderfully kind to bring in Adam Chacksfield, Ph.D. to be our guest speaker.  Thank you, Marsha!

 Adam Chacksfield, Ph.D.,was born and raised in England, but has lived in Macomb, IL for the past 13 years. He is President of The Center for Nondual Awareness, a global community of nondual teachers. Regarding Fluoride from James R. Bell, MD

I urge discontinuing fluoride addition to water supply.

Here is an article supporting my view:

 Fluoride

Fluoride is found in many things around us. It is in our toothpaste, water and
tea to name just a few. In the 1930's it was used to treat over-active thyroidglands. In 1937 the use of fluorotyrosine further emphasized its effectiveness. Many patients suffered complete loss of thyroid function with this treatment. Consequently this drug was given a new role and renamed as Pardinon and became used as a pesticide.

 Fluoride acts as an enzyme poison. Enzymes are protein compounds thatspeed up biochemical processes. There are chains of amino acids within our body that make up these complex proteins. These complex proteins are linked to simple ones called amides. It is within the amides that fluoride reacts by splitting and distorting them. This damages the enzymes and their activity.

 Fluoride is cumulative and builds up steadily in our bodies through what we eat and breath. The use of fluoride toothpastes and dental fluoride teethtreatments only further assault or already overloaded bodies. It is thought that the body can only eliminate 1/2 of the total amount taken in so as you age the amount being stored increases.

 Why is all this important? The changes in the protein structure create an issue within our body. It creates proteins that the body does not recognize so consequently it tries to get rid of them by creating antibodies that will lead to an autoimmune reaction. Common forms of thyroid autoimmune (AI) are Hashimotos (underactive AI) and Graves (over-active AI).

 The enzyme poisoning effect can eventually extend to our genes - DNA cannot repair itself and chromosomes are damaged. This can have all kinds of ramifications from fetal development to cancer.

 Applying fluoride to thyroid function we can walk through these steps:

 1. There is an enzyme process that occurs within the thyroid gland. This occurs when iodine attaches to the amino acid tyrosine. It is then converted into thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Fluoride slows down this process.

 2. The toxic effect of fluoride will stimulate the "G" proteins who's normal function is to control the uptake of substances into the body's cells. The effect of this will be to switch off the uptake of the active thyroid hormone into the cells. This will cause fatigue and a slowing of the metabolism in the body.

 3. Fluoride also inhibits the TSH output from the pituitary gland. This reduces the amount of thyroid hormones being put out.

 4. Another issue with fluoride is due to its competition for receptor sites in the thyroid gland that respond to TSH. When less TSH reaches the gland less thyroid hormone is created. This will cause a slow decline into hypothyroidism.

 Finally, fluoride also displaces iodine. Iodine is also a key nutrient in the manufacturing of thyroid hormones (see page on iodine & the thyroid). The resulting iodine deficiency not only effects the thyroid gland but all parts of the body that depend on thyroid hormone to operate at full capacity.

Our speaker for July 11th is Ron Head.

Ron is originally from Florida.  While in the military, stationed in Okinawa, Ron was introduced to Buddhism and married a Japanese native.  Subsequently, he was stationed at Offutt Air Force base in Omaha, so he does understand us Midwesterners a bit.  After being discharged, he wound up back in Florida, ultimately retiring from business in 2008.  In 2009 he became interested in Theta Healing and has studied it seriously ever since.  In 2012 he became a channel for Archangel Michael and has been posting those sessions on his blog: http://oraclesandhealers.wordpress.com/ .  His work is highly respected in the international spiritual internet community and his channelings are often reposted in other spiritual sites.

Earlier this year Ron had a QHHT session with our own Suzanne Spooner while she was visiting in Florida.  It has resulted in Ron's moving to Des Moines so that they can collaborate on a book.

For his presentation to Common Thread, Ron intends to give an introduction of himself, expanding on the above bio, then describe how he got into channeling.  Ron said, "I will see if there is a channeling that AA Michael wants to give for the group and read it if there is.  I have never channeled live and don’t want to start in front of 100 people."  Ron also intends to give a free introduction to Theta Healing, the aim being to have fun with it.  He will then open to any questions on either topic.

The Speaker for June 6th is our own Judy Olson.

Judy Olson was born and raised on the north-central plains of South Dakota. Early work and play experiences connected her strongly to the earth and paved the way for her to embrace the beauty of Native American spirituality when she encountered it as an adult. She sings, plays and writes music for the guitar and the Native American flute. Her passion for the flutes is especially strong and has led her to play them whenever she can, sell them, give lessons and create CD's. Judy regularly leads drumming circles in the Native American tradition and writes with a native flair. She believes that the teachings of the ancient Native American Medicine have much to offer us in modern times. 

At the next Common Thread meeting you can expect to learn the dynamic lessons of the medicine wheel, hear stories, music and ask questions about all of it. 

For Judy, music and sound are healing arts that she combines with other modalities. She is a Reiki Master and is also trained in Healing Touch, Quantum Touch, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Spiritual Response Therapy ( SRT ). In addition to these methods, she uses the power of sound, music and drumming in healing sessions and rituals. She recently retired after 38 years of teaching and is now focusing on healing, writing and music.

The Topic for May 2nd, 2013:

Kevin Thoren will be our speaker this month. You may remember him as the one who brought the Buddha Relics to Des Moines last summer. Kevin has recently returned from a trip to Brazil, and he is excited to provide us with details of his amazing journey.  I hope you will join us!

 

Kevin says:   Over 1 million persons from across the earth with physical, emotional, mental and even terminally ill conditions have traveled to see John of God at the spiritual healing center named the Casa Dom Inacio in Abadiânia, Brazil to receive these spiritual healings. This has included over 10,000 medical doctors and researchers to confirm the numerous levels of spiritual healings performed.
I would say many millions more have been  helped as their pictures were presented or by surrogate surgeries as they could not be in the presence of John of God and his helpers.  Wayne Dyer and Oprah Winfrey have both been to see John of God.  Wayne Dyer says he was cured of Leukemia.
Since 1991 after hearing a friend share his experience it had been a dream of mine to go to Brazil. This dream was finally realized in February 2013.  I will share my experience while with John of God and the spiritual beings who work with him.   I had an energetic surgery and I will try and explain what my experience was like.  We have all discussed energy medicine.  My experience with John of God has given me a greater understanding of what this truly means.

Presenter Donna Garlinghouse is licensed by Jovian Archive Corporation as an Individual and Family Analyst, a Living Your Design Guide and an ABC’s Teacher.  She has studied piano, religion, art education/ art history and philosophy, with careers as an art teacher and fiber artist.  Stepping stones include an MS degree in Art Education from the UO (Oregon) with a year’s study in Europe.  She spent decades exploring the lives of the Christian mystics, studying the Course in Miracles, teaching Reiki and advocating for the disenfranchised, but – except for being a grandmother - nothing has captured her imagination or proved to be more personally empowering in its practicality than has the Human Design System, which she has dedicated herself to for the past 12 years.

OUR TOPIC FOR THE MONTH  ******  DOWSING

Have you ever seen a member of the spiritual community pull their necklace up and start spinning the pendulum? Or pull a pendulum out of their purse or pocket and start swinging it to and fro or in a circle? Sometimes, you can see them mumbling something under their breath.

Well, the technical term for that is "dowsing". Originally, dowsers were people using two wands to find places to dig water wells, and it could be very effective. There are even now dowser groups in Iowa and locally that have meetings to practice their talents, although now dowsing is more spiritual connection than water wells.

One of our members who is very, very talented with this technique is Barbara Kerns and she will share some of her wisdom and experience with us at our next meeting on Thursday, February 7th. She will introduce the Dowsers she has studied with, the books they have written & of course, the main agenda they have in their teachings. Robert Detzler, Raymon Grace as well as Annalise Hagemann, Joey Korn and one or two others are ones she has known or studied.

There is talent to this, but it is a talent we can all learn.

Barbara Kerns has been a student of metaphysics since her early teens. She is a graduate of the Science of Mind Course, a Reiki Master/Teacher, and a Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT) Counselor. Barbara was introduced to Spiritual Response Therapy in 1988 at a First Iowa Dowser’s meeting. A new book, “Your Mind Net”, by Robert Detzler was the subject of discussion that day. Barbara purchased a copy and by 1991 had become a serious student of SRT earning her Certified Counselor’s Certificate and, soon after, she became qualified as a Certified Teacher. She no longer teaches but continues to do consultations and clearings when requested.

Recently, Barbara became interested in Access Consciousness and the “Bars” process. She became a certified facilitator and is now able to provide a Bars session for those interested.

Welcome in 2013!

The Common Thread Group will meet on January  3rd in Waveland Hall at Plymouth Church beginning at 7pm. ALL ABOUT DECEMBER 21ST

 What will happen on 12-21-12?  Will anything happen on 12-21?  Is the world supposed to end like some on the History Channel predict?  What about the Mayan Calendar - how does that fit in?  What is all this talk about ascension?  Will that happen on 12-21?

We aren't going to say we have all the answers.  We won't even say we have all the questions, but we think the time is perfect for all of us to discuss this confusing and controversial topic at our last meeting before that magic date.

We won't have a chosen presenter for our meeting, but a panel of active students of the topic will answer questions and discuss/debate as many issues as we have time for.  Scott Houston, Anita Shekinah, and Steve Stone, all past presenters for Common Thread, have agreed to participate and we are attempting to make contact with a fourth and perhaps fifth. 

Please join us with your questions - and answers!  It is certain to be an entertaining evening.

The Oneness Phenomenon

 

The central understanding of Oneness is that inner transformation and awakening into higher states of consciousness is not an outcome of a mere intellectual understanding but through a shift in consciousness whereby one’s experience of life is redefined at its core. This is achieved by the process of the Oneness Deeksha /Oneness Blessing which is a phenomenon sourced in the deep passion and the intent of Sri Amma & Sri Bhagavan.

The Oneness Blessing (aka Deeksha) is an energy transfer that brings about growth in consciousness. The level of consciousness of a person determines his/her quality of life experience. For instance, one’s experience of the ongoing recession, the ability to handle misunderstanding in relationship or a daughter’s rebellious nature, what emotions surge through when diagnosed with a health problem, the level of connection with people around and the joy experienced, the intensity of passion at work etc., depend on one’s level of consciousness. As consciousness rises, there is greater awareness, joy, love, togetherness, and focus in everything that you do and experience.

The Deeksha neither requires practicing a particular way of living nor is an initiation into following a new path. It does not bind one to any philosophy or ideology. It transcends religious and cultural barriers from the fact that it only chooses to awaken each to his/her own spiritual tradition by facilitating a neurobiological shift, thus making religion a matter of personal choice and convenience. Hence people belonging to any faith or age group can receive the Deeksha.

Remembering Who We Are

For as long as I can remember, I have had my own knowing of who God was.  My beliefs were strong; they were just a part of me, despite the religious and familial beliefs that were such a compelling influence in my life. 

 As I went through my life, I looked for others who shared this knowing.  With each passing year that I did not find them, I did not forgo my beliefs, but I held them in a little more.  I had a fear of how others would perceive me if they didn’t understand my view of God and the Universe.  I didn’t understand this fear because of the deep love and knowing for what I knew of God.  I felt alone, freakish at times.  I questioned where I would have gotten such crazy ideas.  No matter the fear, these beliefs were of me and I found great solace and comfort in them inwardly, quietly, on my own.

Blessedly, I was introduced to the work of Drunvalo Melchizedek and finally, I realized that my knowing, my intimate connection to God was not just something I made up in my own head.  This ancient, sacred knowledge that Drunvalo shares was exactly the resonance I had been seeking all of my life

Drunvalo created the Awakening the Illuminated Heart ® workshop to assist us in remembering who we are.  To once again live and create through the Oneness of our Hearts to ascend into Higher Consciousness.

It is truly my great joy and honor to be a Certified Teacher for the Awakening the Illuminated Heart® workshop.  I look forward to sharing more about these sacred teachings with you.

This month, as we get immersed further into the crazy energies, our own Lea Stermer will speak to us and help us alleviate and transform some of these nagging issues.

HOW TO HEAL YOURSELF AND YOUR ENVIRONMENT      

Lea says,   "Recently I realized that over the last 13 years I had acquired many healing modalities that I wanted to share with you.

Self healing and channeling have made a definite impact on my life so we’ll talk about these.  I will also do some Channeling for the group and individuals." 

About Lea Stermer:

In my professional life, I was responsible for directing hospital dietetic services departments. If I may say so, criticism of hospital food is often overblown. We had a 98% approval rating in our patient food service and our cafeteria. Now that I have set that record straight, let me tell you about my spiritual journey.

About 10 years ago a friend asked if I would like to attend a series of classes on human energy fields. I had absolutely no idea what the class would be about. Metaphysics was a word that meant nothing to me.

I took the classes and WOW, did my life ever change. It was as if I had been living in the dark all those years. Teachers showed up, books fell off the shelf in book stores, mentors entered my life, classes were offered, friends came into my life with similar interests, energy healers appeared, massage therapists came, and seminars were advertised.

Divine Spirit/God/Source became my focal point. My life began moving so fast toward Divine Spirit that it was as if I were on a freight train, holding on as tight as I could because of the speed. It has been an absolutely wonderful experience.

I had no intention of becoming a healer/teacher. I thought I was learning just for my own growth. I started with becoming a Reiki Master to heal myself as my health was not the best – actually it was pretty bad. I struggled with arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. etc. I limped when I walked, and stairs were a challenge. Peopled asked me when I would have a hip replacement. My hands ached all the time.　Now I move with more ease and I now feel so healthy and vigorous that I have taken up parasailing.

　Once I learned Spiritual Release Therapy, Spiritual Restructuring, Spiritual Healing Patterns, EFT and ZPoint, I was hooked on healing. This was something that had to be shared with others.

Spirit never rests and is always adding to the depth of healing open to me.
